With Limelight, Twilo and Roxy now but faded, narcotic-addled memories in the minds of Chelsea’s rapidly graying denizens, it’s shocking to think that New York City—home to the Broadway, the Stonewall riots and Studio 54—has been bereft of a first class gay dance club for years. No longer. Legendary nightclub impresario John Blair has built a rainbow bridge to homo Valhalla on 42nd St and, considering Mr. Blair’s reputation, it’s no surprise that the new Hell’s Kitchen iteration of XL is downright Wagnerian in scale.

After a successful Opening weekend led by Tony Fornabaio and Brandon Voss, XL welcomes the hottest new Thursday night party “42nd Street”, presented by our favorite queen of the night, Susanne Bartsch.  With hosts Kayvon Zand and polyurethane nightlife legend Amanda Lepore, this new night is bound to be the kind of over-the-top polysexual phantasmagoria New York used to be famous for.
