Home of the Yuppster

Meet the Yuppster—the unlikely hybrid of the Yuppie and Hipster. Bobos may be in paradise but Yuppsters are more likely to be found at a clam bake or Vampire Weekend concert. Who is included in this new social category? Well, if you’re grooving out to Wilco on your iPod while navigating a schooner off the coast of Hyannis Port, chances are you fit the mold. With the Yuppster, ironic urban sophistication meets WASPy New England tradition.  And the epicenter for this social phenomenon has got to be Sault, the charming retail store located Boston’s South End.  It’s Williamsburg by way of Grover’s Corners.

Sault is the brainchild of Phillip Scott Saul, a Boston resident for over 10 years and devotee of all things New England. Saul opened the store after working eighteen years as a merchandiser for Banana Republic and Urban Outfitters, specializing in store visuals. Indeed, with its eclectic inventory of apparel (brands such as Jack Spade, Ivy Prepster and Rogues Gallery are peppered throughout), personal accessories, tongue-in-cheek literary offerings and artisanal household items (beer soap!), Sault is the official home of the Yuppster.
