At 26 we ushered in a London theater when Marianne Faithfull dropped in. We spied the familiar swallow tattoo on the left hand, which held a cigarette. She penetrated us with velvety dark eyes and a knowing smile. “Hello…” she whispered in her trademark raspy timbre, and we unraveled.

Regarded as an icon – defined as ‘a representation of a saint or angel’ - this enduring and powerful songwriter is certainly an angel, but with a dark side. In a remarkable 50-year career of folk, pop and rock, she has never failed to be haunting and emotive. In her latest acclaimed album Horses and High Heels she continues her fearless appetite for exploring and displaying vulnerability across four originals tracks and eight covers.
