Ian Schrager Does It in PUBLIC

Relaxed, sincere, chic, with a “Pump Room.” No, we’re not describing our most recent suitor.  In fact, we’re referring to hotelier Ian Schrager’s newest property PUBLIC, scheduled to open next month.  While the hotel’s location in the heart of Chicago’s exclusive Gold Coast would suggest the property to be marked by dramatic opulence rivaling that of the Gramercy Park Hotel here in NYC, Schrager is taking a very different direction with his newest baby.

The PUBLIC brand will have an emphasis on practicality and modern luxury, rather than excess, and the hotel will offer only “services that matter” such as WiFi, not to mention 2:00am intimacy kits complete with a round of dirty martinis. The design of the hotel is best described as restrained and classically cool with chat rooms for informal congregation and a restaurant by world-class chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, inspired by his award-winning ABC Kitchen in NYC.

PUBLIC Chicago begins previews on September 12th, so if you find yourself in the Windy City remember: it’s always more fun to do it in PUBLIC.
