It’s Recently Come to Our Attention That We Love Poundcake

Lower Manhattan is a melting pot of foreign cultures, secret members clubs and more than its share of dive bars, which makes the area a dynamic breeding ground for designers, artists and expressionists, punctuated by dreaded encounters with Chloë Sevigny. An exciting new pop-up store named Poundcake endeavors to express the clash of design, culture and lifestyle in one gallery-style boutique.

Poundcake, which opens in NoLita on Friday, is positioned to meet all of the needs of artistic-chic lifestyle, but only through February. The store is the pulp of artistic expression; a collection of gritty but exquisite jewelry, photography, vintage furniture and lighting fixtures, accessories, and even chocolate that reflect the rawness of the artistic lifestyle.

Showcasing products as diverse as the residents of the area, Poundcake embraces the no frills, no attitude charm of Old New York. Their items hark back to the gritty, sexiness of the 70s and 80s downtown scene that is quickly disappearing. One of our favorite items is the brass knuckle rosaries by Father Panik Designs.

We suggest you head down to Poundcake quickly before Chloë cleans out the store, filling her basket with ironic arts smocks by Balenciaga Le Dix and pleated palazzo pants by Cathy Pill.
