Sweater Savior

Just the other day we were strolling down Madison Avenue, cappuccino from Via Quadronno in one hand and Black Friday shopping bags galore in the other, when tragedy struck: a dear friend accidentally touched his moccacino to our mocha cashmere. We were about to call Madam Paulette (she’s on speed dial) when our friend whispered three sweet words we’ll never forget: Laundress Sweater Service.

It’s brilliant! Simply send your sweaters to The Laundress via UPS or FedEx (simple shipping instructions included), visit the Laundress website and note how many sweaters you need to have cleaned, be sure to include your tracking number, and relax. In no time at all, your cashmere will be returned to you in perfect condition having been hand washed using The Laundress’ famous Wool & Cashmere Shampoo. We hear Martha Stewart was sending her cableknits out to the Laundress from Camp Cupcake!

The service was started in March of 2004 by Lindsey Wieber and Gwen Whiting, both graduates of Cornell’s textile and apparel design and management program. The girls worked for Chanel and Ralph Lauren after graduation so they are certainly experts in fine fibers.

And at $25 a sweater, it’s a deal that feels as heavenly as your cashmere sweaters.
