Takei My Breath Away

Many of Broadway’s great productions have taken inspiration from the raw material of history—“Evita,” “Porgy and Bess” and “Les Misérables”…and soon “Allegiance.”  To all the out-and-proud music theater lovers out there as well as all you closet cases…get excited! The new musical, produced by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione, will Takei your breath away.

George Takei (Star Trek’s Mr. Sulu), stars in this epic story of love, war and heroism set during the Japanese American internment of World War II.  The dark, underexplored chapter of American History specifically resonates for Takei as he personally experienced life in an internment camp during his childhood.

“Allegiance” will premiere at The Old Globe in San Diego next year with plans to open on Broadway during the 2012-13 season with Lea Salonga (Tony Award Winner – Miss Saigon), George Takei and Telly Leung.
