The Gay Globetrotter
At one point or another, we’ve all met a man who comes into our life overnight and then leaves just as quickly. Some of us meet him—or some variation of him—often thanks to Grindr…some of us are now missing our wallet because of it! Having learned our lesson not to invite strangers into our homes, it was with skepticism and mild reluctance that we met with the man behind “80 Gays Around the World” while on holiday in Provincetown.
Part Odysseus, part Forrest Gump, perhaps even part Casanova to some, to our surprise the man behind “80 Gays Around the World” was not only charming but rather exciting in his story. Chris, a self-described “gay, Yorkshire-man, ex-accountant” from London, tells a rather inspiring tale of quitting his humdrum job to travel the world. Relying on the camaraderie and support of the international gay community, our protagonist, along with his sidekick Dean (pictured here) are slowly making their way across the globe, staying with 80 gays—friends and friends of friends—seeing new places and meeting new people with every documented step.
Inspired by his journey and the photos of his handsome sidekick, we’ve followed the two (via facebook, Twitter and his website) since their journey began in June. Currently in US, “80 Gays Around the World” will soon be uploading anecdotes and photos from upcoming locations in South & Central America, New Zealand, Australia, Asia and Europe.
